At BILLYBOWS, we are committed to creating beautiful event styling while carefully considering our environmental impact. We take pride in making responsible material choices and offering practical solutions to minimise waste wherever possible.

Latex Balloons

We exclusively use high-quality, biodegradable latex balloons in all of our designs. Although these balloons are biodegradable, they can still take up to eight years to break down. Large celebrations such as weddings and corporate events can result in a significant volume of balloons at the end of the occasion. We believe that responsible disposal is essential in helping to protect the environment.

As part of our commitment, we offer a balloon disposal service for our clients. All used latex balloons are collected by a licensed waste carrier and transferred to an energy-from-waste facility, where they are incinerated to generate energy. If you would like us to take care of this for you, simply let us know when booking your event.

 

Foil balloons

Foil balloons—also known as Mylar balloons—are made from a synthetic plastic/nylon material. While they are recyclable, they are not biodegradable, making correct disposal especially important. In many cases, foil balloons can be deflated, with any attached latex components removed, and then recycled alongside other aluminium materials through your household recycling collection.

Balloon releases

Balloon releases have become a popular way to mark special moments, and while visually impressive, they can have serious consequences for the environment. Although helium itself is not harmful, released balloons inevitably return to the ground once they deflate or burst. This can pose a risk to wildlife, particularly birds and marine life, which may ingest balloon fragments or become entangled in ribbons.

As part of our commitment to responsible event styling, BILLYBOWS does not support balloon releases and does not supply balloons for this purpose. We are always happy to suggest alternative ways to create meaningful and visually beautiful moments that are more environmentally considerate.
